Solution focused therapy

Hypnotherapy is same as other types of therapies in which a patient is hypnotized so that the doctor can know about his problems and then resolves them. The main aim of this therapy is to know the causes of the problem and find the solution so that the causes and the problem both can be eliminated.

Induction

The hypnotist has to induce the patient so that he can be taken into the state of trance. This opens the subconscious mind of the patient and he is ready to accept more suggestions from the doctor. Here are some types of inductions, which are used in hypnotherapy.

Relaxation

Relaxation is considered as the commonest form of induction in which the patient is relaxed after being hypnotized. When the patient reaches this state, he can communicate to the doctor in the best possible manner.

Handshake

The hypnotist has to disturb the patterns present in the mind of the patient. When the hand is shaken, the hypnotist catch hold of the hand of the patient tightly. Man forgets about what he is thinking and concentrates upon the handshake. The subconscious mind of the patient is awakened in this way.

Visualization

In this type of induction, the hypnotist asks the patient to see a thing like scenery, dot, or anything else. The patient has to concentrate in it. After the thing that the patient is viewing is removed and another thing is placed. This helps in opening the subconscious mind of the patient.

Breathing techniques

Hypnotist may also use breathing techniques in which the patient has to inhale and exhale the air with much pressure. A patient can be induced into trance like position.

Types of hypnosis

There are many types of hypnosis and a hypnotherapist should have been trained in most or all of them. Let us discuss about all these types.

Behavioral hypnotherapy

This is the first therapy that a therapist performs on a patient. This therapy is considered as the starting point of counseling with the patient. The aim of this therapy is to change the behavior of the patient. Both of them have to talk to each other and give suggestions.

Analytical hypnotherapy

The other name of this therapy is hypnoanalysis.  The aim of this therapy is to know about the root cause because of which the patient has started behaving in this current manner. The therapists help the patients to know the reason of such behavior and then change it.

Cognitive hypnotherapy

In this type of therapy, the therapists help the patients to change their behavior by updating their beliefs. The therapist also tells him to look the life in another way.

Regression hypnotherapy

This therapy is considered as intrusive and many therapists do not like to apply it on the patient. Other types of hypnotherapies are easy to implement and they also give good results. If regression therapy is needed, the therapist has to tell the patient about the benefits and harm of this therapy. This therapy helps a patient to know about the past events that have occurred in his life. The risk in this therapy is that the patient may get traumatized. The therapy should be applied by only an experienced therapist. There are cases where a therapist may tell that this is the only therapy, which can cure the patient. Such a therapist may not have much knowledge and experience about this therapy. So it is better to consult with other therapists also.

Past life regression hypnotherapy

Some patients have a belief that their current life is affected by their past life. In order to deal with such type of patients, this therapy can be used. Patients will come to know the reason of their present behavior and will try to change it as per the instructions of the therapists. This therapy is same as the general regression hypnotherapy. There are many therapists who do not believe in past life but still, they can help such patients to change their behavior.

Ericksonian hypnosis

Dr. Erickson has been given the title of father of scientific hypnosis. He has developed many techniques, which have been given the collective name as Ericksonian hypnosis. Instead of using direct suggestions, Erickson used metaphors.

Self-hypnosis

In this type of hypnosis, a patient may relax himself without the help of any therapist. The patient can use any method but he should take care, as such things may be harmful also.

Wrapping Up

These are some of the techniques, which a hypnotherapist uses to get the root of the problem and instructs the patient to change the behavior by giving some suggestions. These therapies are easy to implement and patients will be cured after going through these therapies.
